The question now is, where should you go?

If you want to know what are the safest countries to travel to post-Covid, then you are on the right page. Read on to find out the best and safest spots for you and your family to visit.

Top Countries to Visit

Here are the recommended places to visit around the world in spite of the Corona virus pandemic:

New Zealand

New Zealand is among the few countries that’s responded well in managing Covid-19 since the beginning. They closed their borders early, conducted massive community testing, and were efficient in instating regulations to limit the spread of the virus. As a result, they are among the few countries with the lowest Covid cases.

As of 11 June 2021, the country has reported a total of 2,702 cases from the start of the pandemic. Out of which, 2647 have fully recovered, with a total of 26 deaths, according to its Health Ministry. Although it's unfortunate that there are still fatalities, this is considerably better than the overall statistics of other countries.

In view of the low number of Covid cases in this country, it is an excellent destination to head to after the pandemic. Life for most residents there has pretty much stayed the same with minimal disruption, unlike other places in the world. Although it is still not fully opened to international tourism, this is definitely one of the best and safest places to first visit, once restrictions are lifted.

Besides that reason, New Zealand is a beautiful country to traverse with many scenic and relaxing tourist spots to see. It boasts of vast, luscious green lands that will bring you closer to nature, and not to forget, its tantalising cuisine for the excited food connoisseurs.

Australia

Another country that has reported low Covid cases is Australia. As of 11 June 2021, they have about 30,226 total cases with 910 total deaths (as reported in health.gov.au). Plus, unlike other parts of the world where wearing a mask outdoors and indoors is mandatory, there are some parts of Australia where you are allowed to be mask-free. This may seem like a small thing to consider, but I’m sure you won’t deny that it gives a significant nostalgia to how life was before the pandemic. So, you may want to add it to your list of countries to visit post Covid.

In addition to their low Covid rate, their country-wide vaccination drive is going well too. They have already vaccinated over 2 million Australians in state and territory clinics as of 10 June 2021. At the rate they are going, the government is gearing towards achieving herd immunity soon.

You should also take note that Australia has a lot to offer for travelers. If you are an adventure seeker, you will surely enjoy the endless hiking, running and mountain biking trails it has to offer. You can also have a splashing time with water sports such as surf boarding, scuba diving, and even water skiing. Besides that, it's also a sanctuary for nature lovers interested in exploring the unique Australian wildlife.

However, as of now, the borders of Australia are closed. Only Australian citizens, permanent residents, and their immediate family members are allowed to travel into the country.

South Korea

If you are looking for a safe country to visit around Asia, post-Covid of course, South Korea is probably one of the safest choices. The rate of their Covid cases was quite high at the beginning of the outbreak, but their death rate has remained relatively low. This is due to their extensive efforts of contact tracing and monitoring cases within their communities.

They have also been efficient in administering vaccines to the community, compared to other Asian countries. As of 10 June 2021, they have given out over 12.1 million doses, and 2.35 million people have been fully vaccinated. They may be far from achieving herd immunity, but no doubt that they are among the leading countries in Asia when it comes to vaccination.

Aside from their excellent Covid response, South Korea is an excellent travel destination because of its rich culture and history. You can visit the seaside city of Busan, explore the capital mega-city Seoul, the historical city of Gyeongju or perhaps, head to Jeju Island. Whether you’re looking for an exciting city adventure or a time of relaxation in nature, South Korea has a plethora of interesting sights to offer.

It’s also important to note, that, if you plan to travel to South Korea anytime soon with a short-term visitor pass, you will need to provide your results from a Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, showing that you are not infected by and do not carry the corona virus. This test must be done within 72 hours from the time of your departure. You will also need to undergo a 14-day quarantine period upon your arrival at their borders, even if you have been fully vaccinated. These requirements may have changed by the time you read this article, so we advise you to check the official website of the South Korean government for updates.

Mauritius

Yet another country with low Covid cases is Mauritius. They only have a total of 1,496 reported cases with 18 deaths in total, as of 11 June 2021. Seeing that this country's economy relies heavily on tourism, the Mauritian government aims to reach “herd immunity” as soon as possible with the national vaccination campaign being on track so that tourism can slowly resume (dated 24 March 2021).

What makes this an excellent travel destination post-Covid, is definitely it’s beaches. This tiny Indian Ocean Island offers tropical beaches with serene nature and crystal clear waters to dip in.

To play it safe and keep away from the crowds, you could opt to take a ferry or catamaran ride to many of the surrounding islands, including Ile aux Cerfs, Ile aux Aigrettes, Ilot Gabriel, Ile d’Ambre, Ile au Ronde, Ile Benetiers, Ile de deux Cocos, Coin de Mire and Flat Island.

From now up to 30 June 2021, no tourists are allowed to enter the country, but there is growing optimism that their borders will be opened soon (dated 31 May 2021).

Final Words

With the massive vaccination rollout all over the world, many countries have managed to stave off the spread of the corona virus, allowing a renewed sense of hope for normalcy to arise. However, there’s still a long way to go before things clear up, so why not plan ahead and gear up for your next adventure? We also urge you to check the tourist entry requirements of your desired country of destination, for the latest updates, before you get your tickets.

It’s apparent that the countries mentioned above are among the safest and best destinations to visit after Covid, mainly due to their excellent Covid response. They will probably be among the first countries who will be able to confidently and securely accept tourists when the pandemic eases down. So, start planning and ensure you buy a good and cheap travel insurance before your trip – for extra peace of mind during these uncertain times!
