Pre-existing medical condition
It is hereby noted that we do not consider the conditions of asthma, anaphylaxis, allergies, diabetes and epilepsy to be pre-existing medical condition providing you have not been to hospital for treatment (except for regular check-ups) or hospitalised in the last 12 months directly or indirectly related to that condition.
If you have asthma, anaphylaxis, allergies, diabetes or epilepsy, you must have the required medication with you and you are not covered for the cost of replacing such medication. In the event of a claim we will make appropriate enquires to confirm you have not been hospitalised due to the condition.
Trip Cancellation and Curtailment
- DirectAsia will cover a student/staff for any irrecoverable unused pre-paid transport, activities, meals and accommodation costs (excluding insurance premium and SOS service fees), that are cancelled within 30 days before he/she is due to start the school trip provided the cancellation is necessary and unavoidable due to:
- Serious injury, serious illness, death of the student/staff, or an immediate family member of theirs
- Natural disaster, an Act of God or adverse weather conditions
- Unexpected outbreak of strike, riot or civil commotion arising in the planned destination
- An epidemic, pandemic, outbreak of communicable disease or other such similar health hazard in the planned destination which were unknown when the trip was booked, or the policy was purchased
- Insolvency of airline or a Singapore-licensed travel agency
- DirectAsia will reimburse any irrecoverable unused pre-paid transport, activities, meals and accommodation costs (excluding insurance premium and SOS service fees) and pay for additional economy class transport expenses and any reasonable hotel costs if the trip is necessarily and unavoidably disrupted (i.e. abandoned, lengthened or curtailed) due to one of the above causes, if the trip has already commenced
It is hereby noted that we consider an adult insured accompanying a child insured back to Singapore following a covered event in this section as a necessary cost which we would pay. The maximum we will reimburse or pay you in total across trip cancellation, curtailment and delay is the per person limit in the summary of limits.
