DirectAsia Insurance gives back to the community through Limitless’s virtual running event

Singapore, 21 October 2021 – DirectAsia Insurance has triumphantly completed a run for hope between 3 to 17 October, with a unique approach given the current movement restrictions.

Release date: 21 October 2021

“I Run for Hope,” was a premier virtual running event organised by Limitless, a non-profit organisation based in Singapore, to raise funds towards helping youth in need of mental health treatment. As a show of support and an official partner, DirectAsia organised an in-house virtual run with employees across the board, to gather funds towards this cause. All proceeds collected will go towards supporting youth mental health programmes coordinated by Limitless. The main goal is to provide subsidised or pro bono counselling, therapy, and casework for youth, aged between 12 to 25, who struggle with existing diagnosis, or pre-diagnosed mental health issues.

“It’s unfortunate that the pandemic has yet to run its own course, so in these trying times our aim is to help renew hope and fervour within the younger generation and among ourselves. It is imperative that we remain positive in our outlook and do what we can to help one another, stay healthy and keep our immune systems strong,” said Sirinthip (Celine) Chotithamaporn, Group Managing Director.

“During difficult times like this, every little bit counts and we’re happy to be able to contribute positively towards the youth of the nation, added Celine.

This goodwill gesture has had a big impact on DirectAsia’s workplace morale and the community at large. It has boosted the spirit of the team by creating a platform for all employees to give back to the young adults in Singapore that may be facing mental stress, which can take a toll on their overall wellbeing.

“I Run for Hope” Virtual Run was the first event of its kind, organised by Limitless, where participants were allowed to run anywhere – indoors or outdoors – at their own pace and time. Proof of distance completed (in the 5km or 10km categories) was provided by submitting photos of treadmill screens or GPS-based running apps and wearables, online.

Every participant also gained access to the Limitless Masterclass, so they can be equipped with the skills and knowledge on mental health, to be able to support anyone who is in need. Each runner’s impact to the community is also multiplied, as every dollar raised will be matched by the Government of Singapore.

As the ongoing pandemic has made it impossible to hold mass participation events like the traditional “The Limitless Run” (TLR) marathon, DirectAsia is glad to be part of this virtual based run to meet the growing needs of adolescents and help more youths who need mental health therapy.
