What do you mean by driver plan?

You can allow different types of motorists to drive your car.

Value Plan: The main driver and up to 4 other drivers who must be named on your policy schedule and/or certificate of insurance, 2 of which can be young and/or inexperienced drivers. The adding of additional driver is subject to additional premium charges.

Value Plus Plan: The main driver and any authorised drivers who are aged 30 years and above and who hold a valid driving licence for at least 2 years in the period immediately preceding the date of your policy. In addition, you can also name up to 2 other young and/or inexperienced drivers. Only young and/or inexperienced drivers who are named on your policy schedule and/or certificate of insurance will be covered. The adding of additional driver is subject to additional premium charges.

Flexible Plan: Any drivers are covered. There is no need to name any drivers.

My car is under finance, what type of insurance plan can I purchase?

We will be happy to provide you with a quote for any of our insurance plans. However, before you buy the policy, please check with your finance company. Some finance companies require certain levels of insurance cover for the car before they can continue with the finance.

Why is DirectAsia so particular about who the main driver is (ie. the person who uses the car most frequently)?

We underwrite and price on the information we receive. Honest disclosure is fundamental to the insurance contract. Pricing is based on risk, and the age and experience of the driver is a major factor in determining price.

The importance of the accuracy of the named main driver is very explicit in the quote process on our site, as it is a fundamental basis for calculating the premium you would pay.

Sadly, there are cases where the main driver (the person who uses the car most of the time) hides behind a better profile driver. This is a fraudulent behaviour called 'fronting'.

It is DirectAsia's policy to pay fairly and promptly for all legitimate claims and to carefully consider all claims which suggest 'fronting' so that we can bring more competitive rates to the motoring industry.

What do we mean by Policy Holder?

The policyholder should be the registered owner of the vehicle – we cannot insure you if you are not the owner of the car.

How do you define the different usages of the car?

Private use: You are only using your car in the course of your private life and for leisure.
Private use and commuting to work: Use of your vehicle for private purposes and commuting to and from your place of work.
Private and business use: You are also using your car for and during the course of your work.
Off Peak Car: You drive a car with a red plate registration in Singapore.
Low Mileage use: You drive your car up to 8,000km a year.

Who is eligible for Low Mileage usage Car policy?

This Low Mileage usage is suitable for drivers who use their car rarely or only drive in short distances of up to 8,000km a year. We will simply require your odometer reading declaration to qualify for this upon insurance policy inception. Looking for a policy that fits your low mileage needs? Opt for our Low Mileage car insurance plan and save.

Do you cover everyone that uses my car?

This depends on what driver plans you have selected: Value, Value Plus or Flexible. Enquire with us to obtain a car insurance quote for each.
