2. The Maldives (~4 hours away)

Everyone knows that this is the most relaxing place in the world. Known as a honeymoon paradise, Maldives is the ultimate beach escape. The sand is one of the whitest and the finest you’ll ever see, and the turquoise waters that are as clear as crystal houses - a breath-taking underwater world (something divers and snorkelers will look forward to). There are also some surf breaks, if you are looking for a bit of excitement during your break.

The best time to go here would be its dry season between December and April, also perfect for New Year or Chinese New Year long weekends.
 

3. Koh Samui, Thailand (~2 hours away)

Koh Samui is a large island and is one of the most visited islands in Thailand. There are so many beaches to choose from: Chaweng, Bophut, and Choeng Mon, just to name a few. Go to Bophut if you want to check out the few remaining places that preserved its original Thai-Chinese culture. There, you’ll find a charming fisherman village with old Chinese shops and houses.

For those who want to swim in the sea or have some peace and quiet, Lamai-Hua Thanon area is the best choice, as it’s less touristy and the seafood meals are superb. There’s also an interesting sight there called Hin Ta (Grandpa Rock) and Hin Yai (Grandma rock), two rock formations that tourists find amusing to look at (we’d rather you look it up yourself as to why it’s interesting). There are also other photo ops at the nearby Muslim fishing village: elegantly painted kor lae boats and traditional fish markets are very Instagrammable. The best time to visit for great beach weather would be February to April, which is just right for your Good Friday long weekend.
 

4. Bali, Indonesia (~3 hours away)

Bali is known for being the epitome of “Weekend Beach Getaway” for many people. White sands contrasted by clear blue waters, it’s no surprise that tourists flock to the gorgeous beaches of Bali. Kota Beach is a favourite among tourists, with hotels and restaurants for every budget. Even though it gets crowded here, Kuta still remains to be orderly and clean. If you want to get sun kissed skin, you won’t be shy lying among the vast number of sunbathers and surfers along the stretch of this beach.

You can also choose to go to Seminyak, where it’s the epicentre of a lot of things: cafes, waterfalls, restaurants - you name it. Don’t forget to drop by popular attractions like Water Bom and Echo Beach to have a great time. The best time to go here would be May to July, and you can opt to spend your Hari Raya Puasa long weekend in Bali.
